SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - Officers from the Miner Police Department say they arrested a Sikeston man for attempted burglary.
Joseph Hurt, 22, was arrested on Saturday, September 24 and charged with attempted burglary.
The police department says officers were called to the Factory Outlet mall to investigate reports from an on duty maintenance worker that Hurt was trying to get keys to the stores in the mall. They say Hurt told the maintenance worker that he intended to enter the stores after hours.
According to the Miner Police Department, Hurt was on his way to the mall and wanted to pick up the keys. The police say a set of decoy keys was placed at a location near the mall and Hurt arrived, found the keys and picked them up.
Officers immediately arrested Hurt and took him to the Miner Police Department. They say he is being held at the Scott County Sheriff's Department.
