JEFFERSON CITY (KFVS) - Blair Moran of Sikeston will receive the Lieutenant Governor's Veterans Service Award on Monday, August 27.

The award, which will be presented by Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, is being given to Moran for his tireless volunteerism in the Sikeston area. Lt. Governor Kinder will make the presentation at noon at Veterans Park, off Malone Avenue in Sikeston.

Moran is a U.S. Army veteran and was nominated for the award by Stephen Taylor of Sikeston through a letter to Rep. Ellen Brandom of Sikeston.

Moran is a longtime volunteer with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3174 in Sikeston, and has also volunteered as chaplain and chairman of the Boys State committee for American Legion Post 114. He has been treasurer of the Sikeston Veterans Park Committee since it began in 1991 and each year he organizes the Memorial Day and Veterans Day services in Sikeston. He is also on the board of the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery.

Kinder says he is proud to present Moran with the Veterans Service Award, which is designed to thank and recognize the sacrifices that veterans make for our country and our communities.
