Couple charged with stealing car from Benton, Mo. store | Crime
SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A couple was arrested Tuesday after Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said they stole a car and then wrecked.
Stacy A. Reid, 38, from Jackson and William R. Crass, 30, from Frohna were charged with stealing a motor vehicle.
Walter said his office received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Dollar Store in Benton late Monday afternoon. Shortly, afterwards, Walter said a car wreck was reported on County Road 321 and it was quickly determined that one of the cars in the crash was the stolen car from the Dollar Store.
According to Walter, a deputy responding to the crash found Reid and Crass walking from the area with several articles of property stolen from the stolen car. He said the driver of the other car involved in the crash identified Reid and Crass as the two people who left the scene.
Walter said Reid and Crass were involved in a trespassing and stealing incident earlier in the day in the Miner area. Both Reid and Crass are in the Scott County Jail on a $2,000 each cash bond.
