Charity walk benefits Kenny Rogers Children's Center

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Supporters of the Kenny Rogers Children's Center in Sikeston sponsored a charity walk in Saturday, October 6 to benefit therapy services for special needs children in Southeast Missouri.

This was the 39th annual walk.

Around 100 people showed their support on Saturday.  Organizers say they raised $22,161 with the goal being to raise at least $20,000.

This allows the center to provide more and more services over the years, according to Michelle Fauette, Executive Director.

Registration was held from 9:30am-10:30am at the First Assembly of God Recreational Center on N. Ingram Road across from the Bootheel Golf Club.

The 1.6 mile walk began at 10:30am with lunch served afterwards.

All participants received a free t-shirt and a $50 cash prize was given to top fundraisers in Mississippi, Scott, and New Madrid counties.

Participants who raised $100 won a prize and had their name entered in a drawing to win a 32" Widescreen LCD/DVD Combo HD TV.

There was also two benefit poker runs on October 6th, one starting in McClure, Ill. and the other starting in Sikeston.
