Family Nights scheduled at Sikeston Public Library | Events
SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - The Sikeston Public Library will host Family Nights throughout January.
Family Night for Preschoolers will be Monday, January 14 at 6:30 p.m.
The family night will be where parents as teachers will answer the question, why teach nursery rhymes, poems and songs? According to the library, there is evidence that early learning of nursery rhymes and rhythmic poems, songs and chants significantly enhances early reading skills and phonemic awareness.
The library says they will be reading nursery rhymes, making crafts, singing songs and enjoying refreshments. Reservations are required. You can call the library at 471-4140 to reserve your spot.
Family Night for kindergarten through third grade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. The library says they will be reading "The Magic School Bus Gets Baked into a Cake."
Organizers say they will be doing hands-on science experiments: volcanoes, adding peanuts – and making flubber. Participants will also be decorating their own mini-cakes. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the library at 471-4140 after Jan. 14.
