The Red Cross is inviting the public to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer until Dec. 7 by mailing them to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes

To ensure that cards are delivered on time for the holidays, the Red Cross says they must be postmarked no later than Dec. 7. Individuals are asked to refrain from sending "care packages," monetary donations or using glitter or any other kinds of inserts with the cards.

Mo. State Hwy. Patrol offers Halloween safety tips

Mo. State Hwy. Patrol offers Halloween safety tips

(KFVS) - Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent Ron Replogle is encouraging everyone to plan ahead on Halloween and offers some safety tips.

Replogle says safety is an important part of a fun Halloween. Here are some tips:

MOTORISTS

  • Motorists are reminded to pay attention for trick-or-treaters of all ages.  Young children excited by Halloween could dart in front of a vehicle. Slow down, and drive with extra caution. If you are headed to a costume party, make sure the costume doesn’t hamper your vision while you’re driving to the event! Motorists picking up and dropping off trick-or-treaters may increase the number of vehicles on the road, therefore affecting traffic patterns. Please be courteous and stay alert.
