Sikeston students celebrate Veterans Day early
News
Sikeston Southeast Elementary first graders put on a Veterans Day music program.

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS)- Veteran's Day is this Sunday, but some Sikeston students aren't waiting that long to commemorate it.

Sikeston Southeast Elementary first graders put on a Veterans Day music program on Wednesday.

The students sang patriotic songs.

Before the program, the Sikeston ROTC held a flag ceremony.

One Vietnam veteran in attendance is glad, that even at first grade, the kids understand what it is to honor our military veterans.

"It's important compared to the old days, back in '75 and up," said Robert Ruiz, a US Navy veteran. "What was back then, and now, it was a big difference."

About 200 people were there to watch the ceremony.
