Outer road on I-55 in Scott City to reopen end of year

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation held a ribbon cutting Tuesday, December 18 for the outer road along Interstate 55 in Scott City.

Speakers at the ceremony included:

  • Tom Schulte on behalf of U.S. Senator Roy Blunt
  • Scott County Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger
  • MoDOT Assistant District Engineer Matt Seiler

MoDOT says final work, such as guardrail installation and striping, is currently underway. They say the outer road is expected to open to traffic by the end of the year, weather permitting.

The ceremony will be held on the north side of the project, near William Nobbe & Co. Inc., located at 1400 East Outer Road in Scott City, Mo.  

MoDOT says the project included grading, paving, signal installation at the I-55 and Route AB interchange, and construction of an outer road from Route K to Route AB near Scott City. Additionally, a new bridge was constructed over Ramsey Creek for the outer road.

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation says Route H will be reduced to one lane while contractors make drainage repairs.

The bridge is located between County Road 450 and County Road 528 (bridge over I-55).

Weather permitting, crews will be working Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 14 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

MoDOT says the work zone will be marked with signs. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while in the area.

MoDOT Commission awards contracts for Southeast District projects

(KFVS) - The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded four contracts for Southeast District projects during its regular meeting.

Awarded contracts include two bridge deck replacements, a bridge replacement and pavement improvements. Contracts include the following:

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, December 18 at 10 a.m. to celebrate completion of the outer road along Interstate 55 in Scott County.

The project included grading, paving, signal installation at the I-55 and Route AB interchange, and construction of an outer road from Route K to Route AB near Scott City. Additionally, a new bridge was constructed over Ramsey Creek for the outer road.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract for the project in June 2010. The $4,333,380 contract was awarded to R.I. Persons Construction Inc., in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

MoDOT says the public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Just visit www.modot.org/eupdates to sign up for the service. You don’t even need a smart phone , according to MoDOT, just one that can receive text messages.

According to MoDOT, if you already have an E-update account, just login and add your provider information and cellphone number.
